Heather began dancing at the age of 5 in a neighborhood studio. It was very evident in her early years that she had a genuine love for the art of dance. At the age of 7, she commuted to the downtown studio of Chattanooga Ballet to continue more advanced classes. When the directors of Chattanooga Ballet branched out to open their own studio (Ballet Tennessee), she decided to follow them and their vision for a more creative endeavor.
While attending classes at Ballet Tennessee and touring with the company, Heather had parts in Swan Lake, Firebird, Alice Through The Looking Glass, yearly performances in the Nutcracker, and many others. In 1989, she held the lead role in the Nutcracker, dancing in the local performances, as well as, traveling to other cities in Tennessee. At the age of 13, she was extended a personal invitation to attend the Alabama School of Fine Arts by Dame Sonia Arova and Thor Sutowski, directors of the ballet school and the Alabama Ballet. The training and knowledge she received under such highly recognized artists continues to instill in her the love of the art of dancing.
Heather continued her high school and ballet education in the program of Alabama School of Fine Arts. While enrolled in the school, she travelled to Seattle, Washington, to complete a very advanced study at the Pacific Northwest Ballet. After high school, Heather went on to attend advanced classes at MTSU and the Nashville Ballet. She attended Cumberland Institute and received her certification for Massage Therapy and recently has been ZUMBA certified as well!
Heather currently is teaching ballet, lyrical, hip hop and adult Fusion Fitness classes at Elite Dance. She will also be the head choreographer for the Sunset Dance Team for this season. Heather lives in Nolensville with her husband Todd and two children Pierce, age 8 and Zoee, age 6.
